Yate Rocks Tramway

Yate Rocks Tramway

My retired OO9 (4mm) scale Exhibition Layout

Yate Rocks Tramway was a 4mm scale ‘009’ narrow gauge exhibition layout.  It featured a small mineral tramway linking quarries near Yate Rocks and the former Midland Railway Bristol to Gloucester line near Rangworthy, South Gloucestershire.  It was set in circa 1950.

In it’s final form motive power was provided mainly by Minitrains ‘Ruston look-a-likes’. The goods wagons were a mix of Dundas wagons and a few Colin Ashby’s and a few scratch built on Dundas chassis.

The buildings featured on the layout were, in the main, based on buildings found in the locality.  The manager’s “office” and the near derelict blacksmith’s featured in the two images above are based on the the buildings contained in the three images below.  They were scratch built using Slater’s and Ratio products.  Figures and some fittings were by Langley.
